Willie Vernon Hovater Willie Vernon Hovater, age 89, of Russellville, passed away on Tuesday, November 02, 2021 at Terrace Manor Nursing & Rehab Center.

Vernon was born on May 5, 1932 to Lenard Dallas “L.D.” and Bertha (Gates) Hovater of Franklin County.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army.  Vernon worked for years at Robbins Tire of Tuscumbia and later as public safety officer at TVA.  He loved his wife, his son, and all of his family.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory; his wife, Betty Ann Jenkins Hovater; son, David Hovater; sister, Alice Lucille Hargett; host of nieces, nephews, and his beloved four legged friend and companion, Charlie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. & Bertha (Gates) Hovater; and all but one of his brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 05, 2021 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.   Military honors will be at Spry Memorial Chapel.  Burial will be at Youngtown Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Mark Riggs and Chris Hargett for their special friendships with Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do a good deed for someone in the memory of Vernon.
