Willie Thomas Campbell, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home on October 28, 2024 after a brief illness.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 12-1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Polly Moore Campbell; one daughter, Jodi Campbell Sims; two grandsons Campbell (Gabriella) Sims and Elliott Sims; sister-in-law Patty Foote and brother-in-law Steve Foote; nephews Monty Cotton (Delores) and Barry Campbell (Marcie) and niece Pat Campbell.
He is preceded in death by his father James Robert Campbell, his mother Ida Cole Campbell, his brother Reverend J. Walker Campbell, his sister Wilma Cotton, nephew Lance Cotton, brother in law Reverend Bill Cotton, his father in law Loyd E. Moore and his mother in law Lorene Moore.
Willie retired from Reynolds Metals Company after 32 years of faithful service as a supervisor. Upon retirement, he followed his passion of home remodeling and woodworking and opened Campbell’s Home Repair Service where he served the local community for 7 years. He raised horses and enjoyed the sport of Tennessee Walking Horses and attending the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration.
He loved his family fiercely and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was also a servant of God and a member of Highland Baptist Church and joined some of his Sunday School friends in the band Bud’s Buddies where he served as the lead singer and later served as the leader singer and coordinator of The Grace Notes. He was a founding member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Willie served his country in the United States Army at Fort Lewis Washington.
Pallbearers are Donnie Arnold, Monty Cotton, Brandon Foote, Don Threet, Elliott Sims and Campbell Sims. Honorary pallbearers are The Senior Adult Men’s Bible Class at Highland Baptist, and Harvey Springer and Joe Cooper.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rhuland and Dr. Irons and his nurse Sally for their many years of providing healthcare to Willie and to his Hospice Nurse Keri Vickery.
