Willie “Ray” Ayers, age 69, of Cedar Hill, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Bro. Robert Filson officiating. Military graveside services will follow in the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams.
The family will receive friends from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ray was born November 24, 1952 in Springfield to Donald Levene and Hattie Elizabeth Heatherly Ayers. Mr. Ayers was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He had been a heavy equipment mechanic for many years.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Donald Levene Ayers; brother, Samuel Ayers; and a sister, Donna Ayers.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan (Soojung) Ayers; mother, Elizabeth Ayers Anderson; and brothers, Tracy (Cindy) Ayers, Mark Ayers and Travis (Joetta) Ayers.
Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
