Willie Mae Humphries, 92, of Durand, IL formerly of Haleyville entered into rest Sunday, November 18, 2012.
Mrs. Humphries was born December 18, 1919 in Carbon Hill, Alabama. She was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church for 80+ years. Willie Mae enjoyed gardening, quilting, and baking. Her father nicknamed her “Kit” when she was a little girl. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandson called her “Granny”. She was known as “Aunt Mae” to her nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 10-11am at Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Ashridge, were services will be held at 11am. Burial will follow in adjoining cemetery. Brother Ronnie Marbutt will officiate.
Willie Mae is survived by her sisters, Louise Frazier, Ruby Rodgers, Betty (Charles) Medlock. She was “Granny” to 4 grandchildren, Laura (Bill) Walsh, James (Robbie) Lacy, Lynn (Dennis) McKee, Thomas Lacy, 9 great grandchildren, JW, Billy, Megan, Jackie, Jessie, Steven, Amanda, Christine, Michael; and 1 great-great grandson, Keaton.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Humphries; sons, Jimmy Frank Lacy, O’Neal Lacy; father, William Lovett; mother, Rosa Mae Pike; brother, James Lovett; sisters, Agnes Bailey and Becky Medlock.
