Willie Joe Wilbanks was born August 27, 1940 in Michie, TN. He was the son of the late Homer and Ruby Wilbanks of Michie, TN. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mamie James and Geraldine Williams, 5 brothers, James I. Wilbanks, Dallas Wilbanks, Dee Wilbanks, Carlos Wilbanks, and Wayne Wilbanks. He leaves behind a brother Johnny Wilbanks. He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Joanna Wilbanks.
He was married to Sabra Whitley in March 1959. He had 4 sons Stanley Wilbanks of Savannah, TN, Delphus Wilbanks of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Steven Wilbanks of Counce, TN, and Wathon Wilbanks of Milledgeville, TN. He had 2 daughters Pamela Williams of Savannah, TN and China Horton of Michie, TN. He had 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was a hard worker. He had to quit school at age 10 and plow in the fields with grown men to help his parents support their family. He loved to lay brick and block. He worked hard to support his family. He also loved catfishing and coon hunting and he took pride in his coon dogs. He loved to laugh and have a good time.
Willie Wilbanks departed this life on June 17, 2023 at the age of 82 years of age at Adamsville Healthcare.
