A private family service for Willie Joe McCoy, 88, will be held on Sunday March 13 at Tate Baptist Church with burial in Henry Cemetery.
On Friday March 11, 2022, Willie Joe McCoy left his earthly home where he was so loved and treasured to go to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He entered this world in McNairy County on October 30, 1933 to the late William Lesley and Gladys Evans McCoy. He graduated from Ramer High School in 1953 and served our country for 2 years in the U.S. Army. He worked for Railway Express Agency for several years and retired from Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company. In 1958 he married the love of his life, Mary Katherine Gurley and they had over 63 wonderful years together. They were always together. He was a faithful member of Tate Baptist Church. His greatest joy was his family. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine McCoy of Corinth; four daughters, Kay Chandler (Tommy) of Tupelo, Lisa Wilson (Donald) of Walnut, Talana Harrison (Jim) of Selmer and Leslie Jones (Eric) of Adamsville; grandchildren, Chris Carter (Bridget), Melody Lessel (Jason), Wesley Wilson (Hannah), Jennifer Wilson, Elisabeth Brummett (Daniel), Clayton Corbitt, Cathryn Corbitt and Ben Jones (Jurnee); great-grandchildren, Katie Sherrer, Brianna Carter, Colton Carter, Ella Wilson and Brayden Wilson; great-great grandchild, Fendley Kay Sherrer; sister, Mary G. McCoy and a brother in law, Buddy Gurley (Elizabeth).
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jake Jones; sister, Linda Young; brother, Tillman McCoy and brother in law, Charles Young.
Bro. Mickey Trammel, Bro. Donald Wilson and Bro. Eric Jones officiated the services.
