William Wayne Short was born on October 12, 1952 at Pleasant Groves, Alabama and passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends. Wayne enjoyed farming and trading wares and livestock at trade days. Everyone who knew Wayne, loved him for his quick wit and great sense of humor. His absence will affect all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Audrey Short of Pleasant Groves, AL.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sanders Short of Pleasant Groves, AL; daughter, Rebecca Long of Scottsboro, AL.; sons, William Short (Angela) of Scottsboro, AL. and Jimmy Short (Laura) of Pleasant Groves, AL.; grandchildren, Matthew Murphree (Hannah) of Scottsboro, AL., Kayla Short, Madison Short, Sarah Short, Morgan Woods (Jonah), Preslie Garmany, Kyndal Garmany; great grandsons Tucker Murphree, Kayden Garmany, Ian Hastings; and sister, Nancy Summers of Stevenson, AL.
Graveside Service will be held at Owens Chapel Cemetery on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Bro. Johnny Johnson officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Scottsboro Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
