William Walter “Bouncer” Davis Jr, age 88 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on April 12, 1935, to the late William Walter and Georgia Mae (Morris) Davis Sr. William was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a lifelong farmer, growing corn, soy, and cotton crops and loved every minute he spent on his tractor. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening, as well as participating in tractor pulls. His family will recall his honesty and “larger than life” personality…William would make friends with a stranger. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Joyce Davis. William is survived by his loving children, Billy (Jan) Davis, Wayne (Cheryl) Davis, Ray (Alecia) Davis, Dale (Gail) Davis, Henry (Charlotte) Davis, and Helen (Anthony) Wright; grandchildren, Andrew (Nicky) Davis, Elizabeth Benson, Bobby Davis, Anthony (Ashley) Davis, Beverly (William) Adams, and Johnny (Jessy) Steele; great-grandchildren, Boston Benson, Caleb Adams, Aubree Steele, and Jaxon Steele; brothers, Henry Davis and Joe Davis; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 3, 2023, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Northcutt and Bro. Tim Nowlin officiating.
