William Thomas "Tom" ManascoMr. William Thomas “Tom” Manasco, age 81, of Carbon Hill (Pocahontas area), passed away on Wednesday July 17, 2024 in the Brookwood Baptist Medical Center Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Thomas was born December 11, 1942 in Walker County, Alabama to William Henry “Bill” and Sylvia Odom Manasco. He worked for Jasper Lumber Yard for many years before his retirement.  After the death of his father, he spent his life helping his Mother take care of his younger siblings & other family. He loved watching Alabama football and was a die-hard Alabama “Roll Tide” Fan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel.  Burial will be in Pocahontas Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Carbon Hill, Alabama.  Frankie Keene will officiate.

Thomas is survived by his Sisters-Tommie Lou (Lewis) Bates, Martha Dobbins, Carolyn Duke (James),  Linda Janie (Donnie) Pruitt; and Brothers-Johnny Mack Manasco and David (Karen) Manasco. He is survived by Nieces-Vickie, Tammy, Linda, Heather & Kristin; Nephews- Ray, Dewayne, Jimmy Dale, Billy, Darren, Brandon, Brian, Bradley & Randy.  He is also survived by 14 great-nieces and 10-great-nephews and several cousins and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his Grandparents-Jessie W. and Lyndie Cagle Manasco and Chesley and Ada Jane Edgil Odom; Sister-Helen Marie Manasco and Brother-Donald Joe “Don” Manasco; niece Crystal Pruitt , Nephews-Michael Dobbins and James Eric Hensley and Great-nephew-Simon David Manasco.

Pallbearers will be Darren King, Nathaniel King, Brad Pruitt, Jimmy Dale Dobbins, Randy Manasco and Keith Willingham. Bro. Frankie Keene will be the minister.

The family would like to thank the Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham Dr. and nurses in the SICU, the Hospice floor, Gentiva Hospice and the Supportive Care – Greta, Cler, Heather, and Jennie.

*A special message to Thomas from his sisters who lovingly took care of him until the end: Tom, you will be greatly missed! You inspired a lot of people. You always had that pretty smile on your face when you seen someone. We know you are happy again because you are with Don and all the others who have gone on. We will always remember you and what you taught us. Until we meet again we know you will be watching over us all.
