William Thomas Ladd Profile PhotoWilliam Thomas “Tom” Ladd, a beloved member of the Jackson, Tennessee community, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the age of 70.

Born on September 4, 1953, in Frazier, Tennessee, the son of the late William Martin “Bill” Ladd and Helen Brown Ladd. Tom led a remarkable life filled with dedication and accomplishments.

He devoted his professional life to technology and education as an employee of Bluff City Electronics, Tom Lawlers, and Jackson Madison County School System. Notably, he played a pivotal role as a pioneer of the technology department within the district. His passion for these fields inspired countless students and professional throughout his tenure.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tom had a range of interests and hobbies that brought him immense joy throughout his life. As an avid fisherman, Tom loved the peace that is experienced only when casting a fishing line into the water. He often spent countless hours with his three girls looking for the next big catch on Lake Graham. Alongside this pursuit, Tom enjoyed “tinkering” in his woodshop on a wide variety of projects. Furthermore, he was an active participant in various endeavors organized by the Tennessee Sports Foundation—a testament to his community spirit.  He also enjoyed attending Northside Church of Jackson.

Tom’s proudest accomplishment undoubtedly lay in family life. He was a devoted husband to Donna Gower Ladd and a loving father to his three daughters: Ann Ladd Keyl and her husband Scott of Jackson, TN, Leigh Ladd of Jackson, TN and Tricia Ladd Rushing and her husband Tony of Christiansburg, VA. His role as a father brought him immeasurable joy and satisfaction.

In addition to immediate family members, Tom is survived by his sister Vickie Ladd Ward and her husband John of Somerville, TN The circle of love extended even further with four cherished grandchildren: William Keyl, Jacob Keyl, Samuel Keyl, and Jason Thomas Stanford. Their presence in his life filled him with immense pride and happiness.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Tom’s life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 5:00 PM in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Gerry Campbell of Northside Church officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00-5:00 pm, preceding the service.

Friends and family are invited to come together to provide support and remember the exceptional life that Tom lived.

Throughout his life, William Thomas Ladd made lasting impressions on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His dedication to education, his passion for community, and his unwavering love for his family have left an indelible impact. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the remarkable legacy that he leaves behind.
