William Steve Robson, III, age 75, of Trinity, AL passed away Friday, October 25th at his home surrounded by family. Known to family and loved ones as Steve, he lived a full, long life. He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely and until his last breath, and they loved him with abundance in return. A man big in stature and in personality, he lived his life full of passion. As a proud member of the U.S. Army, Steve served in Vietnam as a specialist E4 earning a Purple Heart for his courageous acts during the war.
Born June 28, 1949, to William Steve Robson, Jr. and Margie Louise (Bowen) Robson in Jefferson County, AL. Steve was the middle child and only son. He was known to be a bit of a rebel and to give his sisters a hard time. A gentle, yet stubborn, man who lived life by his rules and made sure you knew it was his way or no way but always with love. Their family settled and lived in Jacksonville, FL which will always be “Home.”
Steve took pride in his work as a Chemical Engineer working with various companies and people who helped shape his career. He was fortunate in the work field to work beside some of the best men and women whom he considered family, as they affectionately referred to him as “Rob Dog,” a nickname he carried with him even after his retirement.
Known for his love of the University of Georgia, you would find him every Saturday in the fall cheering on his Dawgs and keeping up with college football with every play by play. If you were fortunate enough to spend time with him in his final days you would be given a lesson on game days and who to be watching.
Mr. Robson was preceded in death by his father, William Steve Robson Jr.; mother, Margie Louise Bowen Robson; and two sisters, Nancy Ackley, and Sandra Malone. He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Noah Timothy Coviak.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Amanda Robson of Athens and Rachel Coviak (James) of Trinity. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashton Coviak, Savannah Coviak, Annabelle Dawes, and Dalton Dawes. There was no greater accomplishment in his life than to be a father and grandfather. He was loved so deeply and his grandchildren were his entire world. He will be deeply missed by his family as he was a true patriarch as he guided his family. His legacy will live on through what he taught his family, and the love and light he leaves behind.
The family would like to express their special gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for their love and support during Mr. Robson’s final months and especially in his final days.
His family will host a private memorial service in Jacksonville, FL at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, P. O. Box 7745, Decatur, AL 35602.
