William Stephen “Billy” Moore, 91, received his crown on November 28, 2024 at Generations of Red Bay. He was born in the Moore’s Mill Community in Mississippi on July 21, 1933 to Olen and Anna Marie Moore. Billy graduated from New Site High School in 1952, where he played basketball. Billy served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the 504th Military Police Battalion. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bay.
Services will be Saturday, November 30, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Jerry Ginn officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 11-2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
Billy will be missed by his wife of sixty-one years, Katrine Gober Moore; four grandchildren, Mary-Elizabeth, Samuel, Jean-Marie and Nathaniel and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen; his parents; his siblings, Ferne Jackson, Flo Henry, Katheryn Martin and Joyce Holland and a sister-in-law, Donna Overton.
Pallbearers will be Keith Kennedy, Dean Hubbard, Chuck Cashion, Gary Armstrong, Wesley Thigpen, Volley Pierce and Jerrod McKinney.
