A memorial service for William “Speedy” Ball will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 5-7 PM at Oxford Civic Center. He is survived by his children, Mitchell Wade Ball (Brenda) of Ohatchee, Darlene Ball of Anniston, and Suzie Smith (Larry) of Pleasant Valley; granddaughter, Barbie White (Michael); great granddaughters, Billie Lynn Blackwell and Olivia White of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Speedy Ball was the Grandfather of Drag Racing. He raced for 50 years. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. Speedy was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Ball; mother, Mattie Ball; and 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
