William “Sonny” Rouse Jr., age 89, went to his eternal home on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, A.D.
A graveside service will be held at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, Florence, on Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m., with Brother William Brewer officiating.
Mr. Rouse was a World War II veteran serving in the 25th Infantry. He spent two-and-a-half years in the Philippines where he would be in combat for weeks at a time with no bath for six weeks and no water to drink at times.
Mr. Rouse was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lydia Rouse, brother, and sisters, Willie Ellen Bohack and Bennie Bowers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy Hairrell Rouse; son, Billy Rouse; daughters, Cheryl Rouse Hubbert and Stacy Rouse Frederick; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who helped him during his failing health. He is more alive now than he has ever been and can now see and walk without his walker.
