william-baker-obituaryWilliam Ross Baker left this world, finished his race and passed through the gates of glory at the age of 82 on July 28, 2014. He has heard those precious words from Christ, “Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the glories of the Lord.” William Ross Baker was born February 7, 1932 in Morgan County, Alabama to Aro Baker and Lillymae Grace Hopper Baker. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by son, Bill Baker; brothers, Lane Baker and Tennis Baker; and sister, Rose Puckett.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Baker of Huntsville; sons, Tim Baker of Petersburg, Tennessee and Steve Baker of Houston, Texas; daughter, Becky McKenzie of Fayetteville, Tennessee; two brothers, Eugene Baker of Guntersville, Alabama and Arlon Baker of Orlando, Florida; three sisters, Temple Aycock of Cullman, Alabama, Averine Nix and Vonda Richardson of Hartselle, Alabama; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM in Spry’s Chapel with Bro. Rickey Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence Cove Cemetery in Eva, AL.
Pallbearers will be Chris Baker, Matthew Baker, Joshua Baker, Danny Baker, Jerry Baker, Sr. and Rafael Sutinen.
