William Robinson Phelps

He was not like anyone but loved by everyone.  Wherever he went, William Robinson Phelps—Billy–made a new friend.  There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t and few things he couldn’t do for a friend or family.

On the job with his father, Billy began learning his trade in commercial and residential HVAC at a young age, barely big enough to carry the toolbox. Over his career Billy worked and lived up and down the Eastern seaboard before settling in 1999 in Hartselle AL with his wife, Nancy and 2 sons Jesse and Matt. He worked primarily in construction, managing several large projects across the Southeast. Earlier this year, Billy retired and began overseeing El Marie’s, an antique and vintage mall in Hartselle that wife Nancy had created.

Music was a favorite pastime and he especially loved the rock of his youth. His weekends were often spent camping, RVing, working around his house, or helping family members with their home projects.

Billy will be remembered for being kind and warm with a heart full of love and a belly full of laughter.  He cherished his wife and adored his sons.  He loved all animals, especially dogs, and will be missed by his beloved dog Dottie who was a close companion to him and his wife Nancy.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jack H Phelps and Virginia P Johnson, and his wife of 33 years, Nancy N Phelps.

Survived by his two sons, Jesse B Phelps and Matthew T Phelps (Jill), and his three sisters Kimberly P Rogers, Kerry P Dale (Bob) and Mickey Addison (Frank). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and sisters in law.

He will be laid to rest in Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach, Florida alongside his wife and parents.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cancer Research Institute. Service details – Peck Funeral Home, Hartselle AL Saturday Dec 4, 2021 3 pm. Family visitation 2-3 pm.
