William Refugio “Billy” Womack, age 55 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Billy was born on November 17, 1968, in Blue Island, IL to Maryann “Macias” Womack and the late Kenneth Davis Womack Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army and following his service, he worked in the entertainment industry as a stage carpenter. He enjoyed taking trips to the creek with his kids and grandkids and fishing at the lake. Billy was always at the library looking for a good book or reading his Bible. In the evenings, he would be relaxing while watching the Big Bang Theory or Elizabethtown. He loved singing, break dancing and listening to Old Rock and Roll, Country and Bluegrass music. Billy will be remembered by his family as a wonderful man who was stubborn, gritty and determined but at the same time had the biggest heart and would give anyone the shirt off his back. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his son, Nathan Mortson. Billy is survived by his loving mother, Maryann Womack; children, Rayford (Daniela) Wilkins, Alejandra (Colby) Medley, Lorenzo Gabaldon, Kenneth Womack, Fall Mehta and Wade Womack; grandchildren, Isaiah, Isabella, Alyssa, Athelia, Ava, Aleana, Camden, Casiano, Amara, Israel, Mary-Clarie, Allorah, Faith, Bryson and Nico; siblings, Mary “Mia” (Thomas “Hootie”) Gamble, Ruthann (Lester) Alm and Kenneth (Alicia) Womack Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 1:00pm -3:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 3:00pm in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
