William Ralph Robertson, known far and wide as “Bill”, departed this life from NMMC in Tupelo on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at the age of 67. Bill was born in New Albany on May 20, l955 to the late Hugh D. Robertson and Barbara Bennett Robertson. He grew up in Ingomar and graduated from Ingomar High School in l973 where he was a standout athlete lettering in basketball. His home Church was Ingomar United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in l977 with a BA in Banking and Finance, was a proud Ole Miss Rebel every day of the rest of his and lived and breathed all things Ole Miss, especially Rebel football. At Ole Miss, Bill was President and Rush Chairman of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and was heavily involved in social activities on campus and around the Square! An avid conversationalist, Bill never met a stranger and could communicate with ease with anyone! He spent his professional life in Banking primarily as a Commercial Lending Officer and retired from the Bank of New Albany (BNA) where he was a Vice President.
Bill received several honors from the banking community over his lifetime and went on to receive a Master’s Degree from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking in Dallas, graduating with distinction. He spent his banking career primarily in Memphis and Dallas. A lover of the outdoors, Bill enjoyed golfing and grilling out with friends and family. His life was lived to the fullest, he seldom missed a chance to see and be seen especially in the Grove at Ole Miss and his friends found his bigger-than-life personality a source of joy.
A Memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, March 5, 2023, from Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Bill is survived by his soulmate and wife of 9 years, Debbie Robertson of Tupelo; his daughter Ashley Robertson and her mother, Terri Robertson Gammill of South Fork, Colorado; his sisters, Patricia Ashley (Coach Norris Ashley, deceased), Donna Gilliam and Ginger Goolsby (Barry) all of the New Albany area; his special friend from Ole Miss days, Mike Greer of Tupelo; several nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
