William R. “Billy” McVay, Sr., 79, of Cherokee, Alabama, died Wednesday, September 09, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. He was an U.S. Army veteran. He was an avid Alabama Football fan, enjoyed shooting pool, escorting truck rides, and fish fry’s. Visitation is scheduled for 6 until 8 PM on Thursday, September 10 at Asphalt Rock Baptist Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Asphalt Rock Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. R. C. Scott and Bro. Perry Murphy. Interment will follow in Asphalt Rock Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by 1 son – William Robbie McVay, Jr. (Yvonne) of Cherokee, AL; 2 daughters – Tammy Bond (Larry) of Florence, AL and Christy Staggs (Norman) of Collinwood, TN; 1 brother – Johnny Lee McVay of Iuka, MS; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn “Cootie” McVay; his parents W.F. and Sadie Jewel McVay; and two sisters, Barbara Randle and Janice Dawson.
