William “Poole” Stanback Jr. – Obituary

Mr. William “Poole” Stanback Jr. was born June 2, 1930, to the late William Stanback Sr. and Laura Carroll Stanback. He departed this life on Sept. 1, 2017. William was preceded in death by his wife, Ester Lee Stanback; brother, Johnnie “Fat” Stanback; and son, Roy Hazel Edmons.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the male chorus, finance ministry, and usher ministry. He was an active member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church until his death.

He attended West End High School. He was a member of the United States Army, and he served during the Korean War. He was also a member of Hope Well Masonic Lodge No. 198 in Leighton, Alabama.

During his early years, he worked construction. He later worked at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Colbert Steam Plant. After his retirement from TVA on Oct. 16, 1994, he began working at the ECM and Florence parking facilities. He worked at the Florence parking facility until June of 2016.

He is survived by one son, William Ed Noel (Sheron), of Florence, Alabama; four daughters, Reola Howell (Paul), of Florence, Alabama, Osieola Cole (Dixie), of Syracuse, New York, Amie Piller (Jimmy), of Bellwood, Illinois, and Shirley Atkins, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be today at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home in Muscle Shoals with visitation with the family from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Galilee M.B. Church in Florence. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
