Mr. William P Gordon Sr. Age 83 of Athens, AL passed away on Oct 4, 2023. He was born on May 6, 1940 to Kenneth and Amy Gordon in Sangerfield, New York. He attended Hamilton schools until high school where he graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in Virgina. His early career was management of Grand Union grocery stores in the central New York area. He started working for Mobile Oil in Syracuse, NY in the 1970’s. He moved to Virgina and was an Engineer for Mobile Oil Corporation in Fairfax, Virginia until his retirement in 2001.
When he retired he moved to Lake of the Woods Virgina. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed traveling with his motorhome. One of his favorite places to travel to was St Augustine Florida. In 2019 he moved to Athens Al to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his Stepmother Phoebe Gordon of Ocala Florida. Children William (Kim) Gordon Jr of Frankewing, TN, David (Denise) Gordon of South Riding, VA, and Elizabeth (Peter) Clapp of New Market, AL. Grandchildren Scott Gordon, Sean Gordon, Kevin Gordon, Cody Arvin, Christel Gordon, Leah Hanger, David Gordon Jr, Tara Gordon and Steven Clapp. He also has several great grandchildren and a special family member Michelle Gordon. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Joann Gordon Fountain.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
