William Neal Pulley, Sr., 92, retired crane operator for Union Carbide and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brandon Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Born January 24, 1931 in Giles County, he was the son of the late Edward Boaz Pulley and the late Dewees Porter Pulley. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1959 during the Korean War. On November 21, 1956, he married Charlotte Minor Pulley who preceded him in death May 28, 2019. He was an avid fisherman and a big time Tennessee Titans fan. Mr. Pulley was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his sons, William Neal (Belinda) Pulley, Jr, Sidney Thomas (Valerie) Pulley; grandchildren, Lindsay Pulley (John) Garlit, Brett (April) Pulley, Amber Pulley (Cameron) Hood, Deanna Pulley (Kenny) Carson; great grandchildren, Deaken Carson, Logan Hood, Grayson Carson, Emery Hood; sister, Peggy (William) Godsey; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward B. Pulley, Jr, Jim Pulley; sisters, Teresa Fay Pulley, and Carolyn Marks.
Active pallbearers will be Mickey Farlow, Shane Andrews, Bart Anderson, Troy Wilson, Terry Hann, and Dwayne Adams.
