William Monroe “Bill” Clingan, 80, passed away at home in front of his fireplace on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. He was born in Cullman, AL to Henderson Clingan and Radder Bennett Clingan. He was a master stone mason and opened Tupelo Stone in 1983. He was a self-made business man and was always willing to help anyone. He donated to Shriners and other charities. He was a true definition of a man affectionately known as “ROCKMAN.” He was tough but had a big heart and was the best daddy. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time on his land and watching westerns. He was of the Baptist faith.
Services will be Sunday, December 1, 2 p.m. at Grace Community Fellowship, Golden, MS with Bro. Tony Darracott and Michael Stanford officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 6-9 p.m. at Grace Community Fellowship. Burial will be in Bill Clingan Cemetery, Belmont, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by the love of his life, Dana Clingan; children, Michael Stanford (Stephanie), Brittany Peoples (Levi), Mandi Burleson, Norman Clingan, Paul Clingan, Shelley Ozbirn and Laura Davis; a host of grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Clingan; special nieces and nephews, April Clingan, Lisa Cruze, Krissy Galjour, Steven Clingan, Victoria Sawicki and Dominic Sawicki and special cousins, Linda Coleman and Jeff Clingan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Hosea Clingan; brothers and sisters, Rachel Dukes, Bobby Joe Clingan, Tommy Clingan and Jackie Clingan and special son, Cachas Matias.
Pallbearers will be Levi Peoples, Michael Stanford, Caden Stanford, Bentley Stanford, Taygen Peoples and Daniel Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyde Peoples and Slate Peoples.
