William “Mickey” Thomas Moore, Jr. – Obituary

William “Mickey” Thomas Moore, Jr., 82, passed away on August 6, 2018 in Birmingham. He was born in Savannah, Georgia into a military family. Mickey graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and he received his Master of Business degree from the University of Oklahoma. Working as a civilian project manager at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, he managed many projects for the U.S. Army during his career. Mickey lived and raised his family in Decatur and then later retired to Cullman. He was an avid Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Cullman. He spent his retirement days golfing and watching University of Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball.

Mickey is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Jean Fields Moore; his parents, Col. William T. Moore, Sr. and Mary Corish Moore; and his sister, Patricia Moore Howard. He is survived by his children, William “Mike” T. Moore, III (Hallie) of Shaker Heights, Ohio; Linda Moore Hinds (Nicolai) of Chicago, Illinois; Frank Moore (Amy) of Florence; stepchildren, Denise Trucks Braswell (Mark) of Madison and Tina Trucks Aderhold (Joey) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Bryant Moore, Baylee Moore, Jasmine Hinds, Amanda Hinds, Sydney Fritz, Phillip Braswell, David Braswell, Ryne Smith (Kianna), Riley Smith and Eryn Smith; great-grandchildren, Mila Rose Smith and Maisie Grace Smith; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be today, August 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Homewood with Ridout’s Valley Chapel directing. Burial will follow in Forrest Hills Cemetery in Birmingham.
