William Lee Blackwelder, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on September 18, 1947 in Marianna, GA to the late Flavil and Kate Smith Blackwelder.
On January 20, 1965, William entered into a joyous union with Kathryn Kurtz. Their love created a beautiful family. Sadly, Mrs. Blackwelder passed away on August 14, 2013, leaving behind cherished memories.
Throughout his life, Mr. Blackwelder owned and operated Blackwelder Signs and Designs in Orlando, FL. He developed lifelong connections there before moving to Tennessee. Although he briefly resided in Alaska for five years, Florida was always his true home. His passion for the outdoors knew no bounds and spending time with his family brought him immeasurable joy.
On September 23, 2023, at the age of 76 years and after a life well-lived, Mr. Blackwelder passed away in Milledgeville, Tennessee. His legacy will forever touch the lives of those who were fortunate to know him.
Mr. Blackwelder is survived by his loving daughter, Rae Finley and husband Mark of Milledgeville, TN; three sons, William Lee Blackwelder II and wife Sue of Minnesota, Spencer Blackwelder and wife Diane of Borger, TX; Stuart Blackwelder of Borger, TX; eleven grandchildren: Joshua, Caleb, Kyle, Adam, Alyssa Markaye Alex Nathan Sidney Joseph and Jonathan; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Blackwelder of Grand Junction CO; a sister-in-law, Sandy Vanderklip of Orlando FL; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Blackwelder was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Whitley; and two brothers, Roger and Michael Blackwelder.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
