William Lawrence Collum of Florence passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the age of 82. His visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 10 a.m. to noon at the First Baptist Church of Killen. The funeral service will follow at noon at the church with Bro. Ashley Pettus, Bro. David McKelvey. Burial will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery with his nephew, Gregg Woodard, officiating.
William was a native of Cherokee and a member of the First Baptist Church of Killen. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; loved coaching youth baseball, playing basketball, hunting and especially spending time with his family; and was an avid Alabama fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Collum; mother, Ruby Collum White; stepbrother, Earl Dean White; and stepsister, Dottie White Berryman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce Ann Malone Collum; children, Janet Cartee (Joel) and Jeff Collum (Jennifer); grandchildren, Christopher Thompson of Washington D.C., Jake Smith of Harrisonburg, VA, Ally Collum of Nashville, TN, and Emily Collum of Birmingham; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Nicholas; many nieces and nephews; brother, Charles Wheeler Collum (Brenda); sister, Jane Collum Woodard (Roy Dean); stepbrother, Wayne White (Pat); and stepsister-in-law, Sandra White.
Pallbearers will be Randy Thompson, George Wade, Leon Smith, Everett Hooper, Jim Hughes and Mike Herston. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Jones, David Crosswhite and the Killen First Baptist Church Senior Adult Sunday school class.
