It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Larry King age 77, on Monday May 30th. He was born in Jefferson County AL to Clifford and Hazel King. He is survived by his wife Jane Heron King, daughters Summer Renee King, Sara Katherine King, and grandson William Jaxson King.
Larry was a graduate of Woodlawn H.S, and The University of Alabama. He was a non-commissioned officer in the AF ROTC. As a young man Larry worked in sales, moving on to work for the Coca Cola Company, and finally becoming the owner of Chevron City on West Meighan in Gadsden AL.
Larry was a devoted husband and father. Friends and acquaintances would always note his infectious humor and outgoing personality. He enjoyed golfing and watching the river from his back porch. He was fascinated with aviation, and becoming a pilot later in life was one of his greatest accomplishments. Rest in peace sweet man. We will miss your cheerful countenance.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and doctors of the CCU unit at Riverview Medical Center for the outstanding kindness and compassion they demonstrated towards our family during such a difficult time.
Visitation will be at Collier-Butler Funeral Home on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 12PM until 2PM. A graveside service will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens at 2:30PM. Rev. Mark Williams will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
