William L. “Pop” Hilliard – Obituary

William L. “Pop” Hilliard, 84 passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born March 2, 1934 to W.O. and Gertrude Eubanks Hilliard. He was a graduate of Jackson High School. Pop was also a Motor Pool Sergeant in the National Guard. Pop was in retail for 35 years. He was Vice President of Professional Foam for over 20 years. He also help manage Hilliards General Store for five years. He always kept a crowd entertained where ever he was and embellished any story that he told. He was a loyal member of West Main Church of Christ, Tupelo Civitan Club and enjoyed helping people in the community. He loved woodworking and going to check on the cows and oversee things at the barn. Pop loved spending time with his family and going to car shows with his son, Brad and his grandsons and enjoyed duck hunting with his son, Bill and his dog, Drake.. He loved his dog, Molly. Pop enjoyed life and was truly ready to be reunited with his soul mate of 62 years, Shirley, in Heaven.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Lee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Doug Greenway officiating and the eulogy by Larry Fruge`. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Hilliard (Chris) of Ecru and Brad Hilliard (Hope) of Tupelo; and one bonus daughter, Pam (David) Hill; one brother, Jim Dave Hilliard of Jackson, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Heather Anderson (Mark), Bill “Bubba” Hilliard III (Leslie), Amanda Clayton (Michael), Susan Grubbs (Josh), Mallory Trentham (Doug); 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Hilliard and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Bill “Bubba” Hilliard, Michael Clayton, Josh Grubbs, Doug Trentham, Mark Anderson and Ty Clayton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Corbyn and Mia Claire Clayton, Jackson and Jett Grubbs, Karson Stegall, Kristopher, Kase and Karmen Trentham, Cooper, Ayden and Piper Anderson, Lily James and Kate Hilliard.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Main Church of Christ, youth program or Sanctuary Hospice House.
