William L. “Buddy” Duncan, 84, died Friday, March 23, 2018 after an extended illness. Buddy was born February 26, 1934 at Pierce Chapel, MS and was the son of the late Lester Earl Duncan and Myrtle Iona Knight Duncan. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1953. He was in the United States Army from 1953-1956 and served in Korea. He married Joyce Pannell in December 1955. He was employed with South Central Bell Telephone for 33 years, retiring in 1989. After retirement, he and Joyce traveled and just enjoyed life. He was a very active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Tupelo, serving as chairman of Trustees for many years and also served on various other committees.
A Service celebrating his life, with military honors, will be held 2 PM Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Danny Dabbs and Rev. Jerry Beam officiating. A private family burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from Noon-service time on Monday only. The service may be viewed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Lynn Narcy of Ridgeland, MS. one son, William L. Duncan, Jr., of Meridian MS. six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Duncan in Nov.2015, a daughter, Darla Duncan in Jan., 2018, his parents and three sisters.
