On Monday December 5,2022, William James “Bill” Cooper, 72, resident of Ashland, passed away peacefully at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 PM Sunday, December 18 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lamar, MS. A private family burial will be in the Calvary Baptist Cemetery . Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Mr. Cooper was born August 28, 1950 in South Bend, IN, the son of the late William Marshall and Martha Voorhees Cooper. He was a graduate of the Michigan Public School System and was employed as a custodian for Michigan State University for 30 years.
A devout Christian and member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mr. Cooper will be remembered as a “people person” and jokester who enjoyed sharing time with his beloved family and friends. Interests included tending to his yard, watching Westerns and Horror movies on television.
The legacy of his lifelong passions…motorcycles, tattoos and piercings will always ripple through the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation for Mr. Cooper will began after church services on Sunday, December 18 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lamar.
Memories will continue to be cherished by his loving wife, Alveta Hogue Cooper, one son, Richard Hogue (Janis) and a step-son, Gary Hogue (Crystal), 3 sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren that included Richard Hogue II and Rikkee Marie Hogue and two great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
