Graveside service for William J. Cole Jr., 83, of Tanner, will be Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Limestone Memorial Gardens, with Eddie Gooch officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Cole, who passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, was born January 23, 1932, in Lawrence, MA to William John Cole Sr. and Ivy Florence Shadbolt. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was a Red Cross volunteer at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Athens. Mr. Cole is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Nell Swanner Cole; two sisters, Joan Cameron and Barbara Platford; and one grandson, Cole Stinnett.
He leaves behind three daughters, Karen Cole, of Slidell, Louisiana, Cindy Stinnett, of Tanner, and Patsy Craig, of East Limestone; three grandchildren, Hallie Stagner, Kelli Stinnett and Will Craig; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Cole Stinnett, Addy Grace Stagner and Lilly Nell Stagner; and two sisters, Leslie and husband, Richard Fay, and Claudia Ashcraft.
Pallbearers will be Will Craig, Dylan Stagner, Eddie Raiden, Bobby Smith and Richard Fay.
