William Howard McDonald – Obituary

William Howard McDonald, age 83 of Jasper, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 13, 2017.  William was born in Rosehill, AL and was the son the late George William and Ossie Lee McDonald.

“Pop” loved Auburn football, his family and was very proud of the four years he spent in the United States Navy, during the Korean War.  He was a carpenter and a coal miner.  He loved watching the Braves with his best buddy Jake.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 7:00 p.m., Rev. David Byrd will officiate.  There will be a private graveside burial at Saragossa Missionary Baptist on Sunday.

He was preceded in death by his Sisters-Edna Painter and Dorothy Naramore; Brothers-Sig, Ralph and Osrow McDonald; Granddaughter-Kim Williams; Great Grandson-Austin Gardner; Son-in-law-Gene Vandiver.

He is survived by his Daughters-Rhonda Vandiver, Vicki Oliver (John), Lisa Jones (Quinton) and Terri Culverson (Jim); Son-Howard McDonald (Sally); 9 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in William’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
