WILLIAM HARVEY “BILL” WENDT, of Lynnville, TN, born June 25, 1947, peacefully passed away on Thursday December 12, 2024, at the home of his long-time companion, Mary Ann Tackett. He had been fighting cancer for over a year but finally succumbed. Bill was pre-deceased by his parents, Phillip M and Betty Wendt, and a sister Carole Thompson. He leaves four children: Jennifer (husband, Lee) Wendt, Will (Natalie), Benjamin (Jamie), Katie (David) Baker, and three grandchildren. He also leaves a brother Phillip (Kim) and a sister Chrissa Bledsoe.

Upon graduation from Tennessee Technical Institute, Bill joined the US Army and served as an artillery lieutenant during the Vietnam War. After discharge, he spent a career with Monsanto as a chemical engineer.

Bill, and MaryAnn, were strong Republicans and worked tirelessly in campaigns and issues. They attended numerous conventions and events throughout the region, state, and nation. With a personal invitation from President Trump, the couple recently visited Mar Lago FL.

An avid historian, Bill was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution. One of his many projects was working on enhancing Camp Blount Historic Site, Lincoln County, and leading the ongoing effort to rebuild the Joseph Greer House there. His other hobbies were woodworking, antique collecting, and restoring old log cabins.

Bill was a scoutmaster, Sunday school teacher, and a friend to all. He and MaryAnn attended Park City Church of Christ. He was known for his generosity to friends, and family, and those in need.

Visitation will be from 11am-1pm Tuesday December 17, 2024 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with Funeral Service to follow at 1pm. Interment will be in New Zion Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Camp Blount Historic Site Association in Fayetteville, TN.
