William Harry Kegg, age 93 of Winchester, TN, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Sproul, Pennsylvania on March 30, 1929, to the late William and Alma (Suter) Kegg. Bill was a devoted member of the Winchester First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years and started the children’s bus and church ministries. He retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant Major. After his retirement he enjoyed going to Hardee’s, where he would spend time with friends and members of the Romeo Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and playing golf. Bill will be remembered as a faithful patriarch of his family, who never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Fair, Colleen Hollis, Marian Bowser, Roger Kegg, Richard Wayne Kegg, Linda Futcher and Karen Smith Hammer; sons-in-law, Don Choate and Ron Humphrey; and daughter-in-law, Betty Simpson Kegg. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy one years, Ruby (Marlin) Kegg; children, William Marlin Kegg of Tuscaloosa, AL, Michael L. (Kim) Kegg, of Monteagle, TN, Julie Kegg Mackens Humphrey of Chirstiana, TN, Colleen Choate (Steve) Kirby of Winchester, TN, and Paul Allen Kegg of Winchester, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Pate, Jason (Miranda) Kegg, Savannah Kegg, Shelby Kegg, Chad (Kristen Mackens, Austin (Jessica) Mackens, Ronnie (Beth) Humphrey, Laurie Choate (Kris) Kelley, Angela Choate, Dustin Kegg, Zachary Kegg, Julie (Chad) Smith, Amanda (Robert) Novotny; great-grandchildren, Preston, Landon, Drew, Tristen, Fallin, Jacob, Michael, Weston, Alec, Kaylyn, Abigail, Carolina, Maddie Kate, Mason, Everett, Tate, Milly Mae, Hannah, Zachary, Aiden, Rebecca, Noah, Samuel, and Cameron. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 12:00pm -2:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held immediately following in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
