William Glynn Helton, 88 of Athens, Alabama, died Thursday, October 20, 2022 at North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Athens.

Mr. Helton was born June 19, 1934 in Wheelwright, Kentucky, he was a member of New Life Assembly of God, where he was known as the Bubble Gum Man. He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force during Vietnam where he was a Navigator of a F4 Phantom and a B58 Bomber. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he played Baseball. He coached Cross Country and Track along with being a Math Teacher at Jessamine County High School. He was a beloved substitute at Athens High School where he was known as Mr. H.

Memorial Services will be 3PM Sunday at New Life Assembly of God with Jason Parnell officiating. Spry Funeral Home is Athens is directing.

Visitation is Sunday from 2PM until service at the church.

Survivors: Wife, Donna Gail Helton of Athens. Son, William G. (Diana) Helton Jr. of Eustis, FL. Daughter, Kelli Helton (Dewayne) Brock of Athens. Grandchildren, William G. (Erin) Helton III of Sorrento, FL, Carter Wayne (Hannah) Helton of Dublin, GA., Zachary  Dwayne Brock of New, Hope, AL and Chadler Helton Brock of Athens. Great Grandchildren: Leah, Max and Evan. Several Nieces and Nephews.
