William Douglas Long, age 81, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024, at his residence. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired supervisor from Murray Ohio after 40 years of employment, and a lifelong farmer. He was a 50 year member of the Ethridge Masonic Lodge #777 and a member of County Line Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Romey and Christine Pollock Long; son-in-law, Pat Tucker; grandson, Clinton Tucker; and great-granddaughter, Xabri Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Steadman Long; five children, Tammy Tucker, Pam Evans (Lanny Wayne), Terry Long, Brandon Long (Alissa), and Brandi Gilliam (Philip); one sister, Patty Sanderson (Tom), thirteen grandchildren, Tamia Walker (Clint), Cade Tucker, Ashley Sutherland (Christopher), Meghan Wood (Dylan), Cole Long, Morgan Long, Maggie Long, Julian Long, Branson Long, Brantley Long, Laura Gilliam, Maddie Gilliam, and Evie Gilliam; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday, September 30, 2024, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Monday, September 30, 2024, with Shane Barton officiating with a masonic service to follow. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family suggests memorials be made to County Line Church of Christ or Ethridge Masonic Lodge #777.
