The widower of Marjorie L. Sipes, who passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015, Mr. Sipes worked 31 years as a telephone cable repair technician retiring in 1985. During his working years, he had lived in Memphis and Opelika, AL before returning to Hardeman County in 1961.
He was a 1955 graduate of Bolivar Central High School and also served in the Tennessee National Guard in the mid-1950’s. On Saturday, April 5, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Sipes (nee’ Davis) and both were long-time members of the Bolivar First Baptist Church. In his leisure time, Mr. Sipes enjoyed hunting, fishing, growing and tending to his large garden and bar-b-quing.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Roy; a son, Rickey Sipes; parents, William Otis and Ola Cox Sipes; and a brother, Ronnie Sipes.
He is survived by son, Donnie Sipes and his wife, Jamie, of Bolivar; five grandchildren, Will, Kaitlin, Leeann, John and Bryce and five great-grandchildren.
