Dan Womack William Dan Womack, 85 of Guntersville, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Crestwood Medical Center. Dan was born July 4, 1938, in Crockett, Texas, the son of Oly Womack and Margie Merriweather Womack. He grew up in Groveton, Texas and at the age of 18 he enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged after two years of service. He was a graduate of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas with a double major, Physics and Electrical Engineering Degree. He began his career with NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Clear Lake City, Texas in 1963 and retired in 1998 as Deputy Director of Space Life Sciences. He then moved to Guntersville, Alabama to enjoy his retirement years RVing with his wife Jean.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Jean Powell Womack; children: Patricia Womack Hruzek (Chris), David Womack (Julie), Kim Potter (Brian) and Karen Thomas (Don); grandchildren: Parker Hruzek, Kalyan Thompson (Jimmy), Morgan Ogle (Jesse), Meredith Cantrell (Kelly), Tyler Jackson (Mollie) and Lily Wright (Braden); eleven great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and his beloved fur baby: Sadie. He was preceded by his parents: Oly and Margie Womack, brother: Phil Womack.

The family has chosen cremation with a celebration of life service at a later date. Gober Funeral Chapel assisted the Womack family with cremation arrangements.
