William “Curtis” Knipper age 90, passed away August 30, 2023.
He was born October 19, 1932 in Silerton,TN. He was the son of the late Alvin and Mary (Newman) Knipper. He met his life long love, Rosaline Hill, at the age of 16. They were married shortly after in Corinth MS on October 1, 1950. They settled down and started their family in the Deanburg community. He then began working on the GM&O Railroad as a foreman. He was a man of many traits ranging from barber, restaurant and store manager, farmer, and bus driver. He finished out his working years at Chickasaw state park maintenance.
He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
He was survived by her two sons Joe Knipper (Cindy Harrison) of Florence, AL and Mark Knipper (Angi Knipper) of Henderson.
His grandchildren were Tyler Knipper; Son Rowan Knipper. Brian Knipper; Son Coleton Knipper. Ashley Murray (Eliot); children Chandler, Dean, and Harris Murray. Megan Tompkins (Derek) Children Madison and Tucker Tompkins. Kaley Ervin (Austin) Children Knox and Kase Ervin.
A brother, Archie Knipper of Henderson and Brenda Crouse of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rosalene Knipper in (2022) and a brother, J.W. Knipper and a sister, Imogene Hearn.
Curtis’s favorite place to be was outside working, going camping with family, riding horses, training coon dogs, and taking care of his many other animals. But more than anything, he enjoyed spoiling grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Sunday service time.
