William “Cass” Utley, 33, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on June 3, 2024 after a relentless battle with cancer.

His family and friends would describe him as selfless, genuine, carefree, happy, and hilarious. He was always making people smile and never thought twice about helping the person next to him. He loved jazz music, thrifting, anything vintage, nature and being outside kayaking, hiking, and especially riding bikes with his daughter, Reagan. He enjoyed watching her play all of the sports she enjoyed and helping coach her teams. They had an incomparable bond. He was an amazing dad and would tell anyone that she was his best friend.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Becky Utley and maternal grandmother, Myra Eadie.

He is survived by his parents, Gary and Janet Utley; daughter, Reagan Utley; sisters, Heather Spencer (Brandon) and Jennifer Butler (Brandon); nephews, Christian Spencer, Kasen Spencer, Bryce Spencer, and Braxton Butler; niece, Briella Butler; special aunt, Tina Hetzel; special cousin, Rachel Askew; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Colbert Memorial. Funeral service will start at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Harlan McWilliams and Josh Shirley officiating with burial to follow.

Pallbearers will be Tajh Weakley, Austin Weaver, Blake Bragwell, Marcus Brown, Kevin Davis, and Sebastian Ragland.

The family would like to thank the staff at Clearview Cancer Institute in Florence for their care and support over the past year.
