William Carl Pruett, age 84 of Albertville, Alabama went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2021 after a brief illness. Carl passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 20, 1936 to Watson and Clara Pruett. Carl worked in the poultry industry and was a former mayor of Albertville.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Nel; daughter, Derinda (Randy) Weathersby; son, David (Robin) Pruett; daughters, Kim (Partick) Lawler and Kandie (Chris) Wilkerson. Grandsons, Tyler Duke, Jackson (Taylor) Pruett, Ryan (Samantha) Lawler, John Christian Baker; granddaughter, Alleigh Wilkerson; great-grandson, Levi Lawler.
Carl worked for Gold Kist Poultry for the majority of his career. At the time of his retirement, he served as Senior Director of Poultry Sales. He was elected and served as Mayor of Albertville from 2004-2008. Throughout his career, he also taught school at Welti and Jones Chapel in Cullman County. He also served as a board member for Cullman County Board of Education for several terms. He and Nel have been active members of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he served on various committees and sang in the Senior Choir.
Carl believed in diligence and instilled in his children and grandchildren the value of hard work. Through his encouragement and example, he motivated all those which he came in contact.
Funeral services will be held at Mount Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral will be held at 1:00 pm at the church.
