Celebrating the life of William C Carpenter Sr.

December 17, 1949 – March 27, 2025

He was born to Linnie and Oscar Carpenter of Eupora, Mississippi on December 17, 1949. He attended Eupora High School and was a member of the marching band and played the saxophone. He graduated in 1967 at the age of 18. He then joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country. He served from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. Once he returned; he worked at Wells Lamont Plant of Eupora where he met his first wife; the late Shirley Jeannette Mann Carpenter. They had two children. One daughter, Tabatha Jeanette Carpenter Hessenius of Texas and one late son William C Carpenter, Jr. of Maben, MS. He then began working for the United State Postal Service to which he retired after serving 36 years. Upon the death of his first wife, he remarried to Charlie Mae Pinnix Yeatman of Mathiston, MS. They were happily married for 5 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Linnie Jane Rodgers Carpenter; Father, Oscar Carpenter; First Wife, Shirley Jeannette Mann Carpenter, and son, William C Carpenter, Jr.

He is Survived by a loving family including Wife, Charlie Mae Pinnix Carpenter, Daughter, Tabatha Hessenius (Bill) Willis, TX; Stepdaughter: Renee Morgan (Patrick) Louisville, MS. Stepson: Wayne Yeatman, Mathiston MS. Three Grandsons: Trevor Carpenter; Kirklan McMinn; Coy McMinn, Three Step-Grandchildren: Dakota Morgan, Samantha Hatcher (Hunter), Bo Yeatman (Laken) and Four Greatgrandchildren: Brody Yeatman, Zoe Yeatman, Sawyer Yeatman, Mccoy Yeatman. He is also survived by his three sisters: Linda Bennet; Joan Byars; Betty Perkins and host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a proud member of Victory Baptist Church in Mathiston, MS.

The Pall Bearers Escorting to the grave will be James Charles Phillips, Jason Bridges, Coy McMinn, Kirklan McMinn, Billy Barmore, Tommy Phelps, and Carlton Gray

Honorary Pall Bearers: Sam Wayne Gray, David Young

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Shannon Edwards will conduct the service. Burial will be in Maben Memorial Gardens in Maben, MS.
