William Bruce Smith, age 73, passed away Monday May 8, 2023 at Manchester Center for Rehabilitation & Healing from an extended illness. Bruce was a Chattanooga resident and a Van Buren County native born on March 24, 1950 to the late William “Bill” and Geneva Smith. He was a 1968 graduate of Van Buren County High School and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, son; Gregory Lee Smith, grandson; Noah Kingston Smith, brothers; Kenneth Gary Smith, Mark Allan Smith, sisters; Deborah (Dudley) Hodges and Peggy Lynn Smith.
Bruce is survived by, son; Jeffery Bruce Smith of Chattanooga, brother; LaVaughn Smith of McMinnville, sister; Brenda Smith Hatcher of Chattanooga, grandchildren; Gabrielle Bruce Smith, Gavin Miller and Robert Lee Webb. Many friends and extended family also survive.
A Graveside service will be held Thursday May 11, 2023 at 3:00pm (eastern time) at Chattanooga Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Webb officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Layne Funeral Home. After the visitation there will be a procession to the cemetery.
