William (Bill) Woods, 76, went to heaven on January 5, 2021. William grew up in Walker County and moved to Huntsville in 1964. He was an active member of Holmes St United Methodist Church for 55 years. William was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and brother. He was best known for never meeting a stranger, helping others in need, and always having a smile on his face. William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn, daughter Renee (Scott) Bishop, son Billy (Jenn) Woods, grandsons Josh (Paige) Bishop and Nikola Woods, and granddaughter Courtney (Jordan) Shelton. He is also survived by three brothers, two sisters and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two brothers, and one sister. The family will have a private service on Saturday, January 9. There will be a public celebration of life at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Holmes St United Methodist Church Building Fund.
