Mr. William “Bill” Hoppe age 77 of Ashland passed away on August 23, 2024 at the Bethany House in Auburn. No services are planned at this time.

Bill was born in Waycross, Georgia, but spent his childhood in Chicago, Illinois and later returned to Georgia, he served four years in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He worked for over 39 years with Gurdon Industries, a mobile home manufacturer and served in many different capacities. After his retirement he worked as a mobile home inspector for several local attorneys while living in Alexander City and Jacksons Gap. He has been living in Clay County for over 18 years. Bill served his community by serving as a volunteer fire fighter and first responder. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed woodworking in his shop whenever he could.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Hoppe of Ashland, Stepson, Michael Gray (Stacy), grandchildren, Colby and Megan Gray, and great-grandson Braydon Gray all of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, William O. Hoppe and Ida Mae Johnson Hoppe.
