William “Bill” Garner Foster of Pulaski, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 5th, 2024 at his home in Giles County. Bill was born on May 9, 1950, in Springfield, Tennessee. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1968 and earned his degree from Austin Peay University in 1972.
In 1969 Bill married Jane Highsmith, also from Springfield, Tennessee where they initially lived, but
eventually settled in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1974. Bill’s career in Pulaski began with an association with WKSR as an afternoon disc jockey (fulfilling his lifelong dream), and ultimately becoming the station sales manager. During this time, Bill became very involved in community affairs, including the Exchange Club,
American Red Cross, and the March of Dimes Auction.
After a short stint with Union Bank, he completed his career with a few middle Tennessee packaging
companies where he was recognized and awarded for his performance. Bill also had a decades long affiliation with First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. Bill found enjoyment in his children and grandchildren and had many passions, including Tennessee football, music, traveling, and most of all his love for Jesus.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jane, and three children, Jana Beth Clifton of Pulaski, Tennessee and
husband, Brian, Jay William Foster of Knoxville, Tennessee and wife, Amanda, and John Garner Foster
of Fredericksburg, Texas and wife, April.
His surviving grandchildren are Abigail Joy Duncan, Molly Beth Pierson, and Yates William Foster. He is
also survived by six step-grandchildren: Adrienne Newton, A. J. Clifton, Ally Mullinax, Drew Mullinax,
Preston Crowder, and Chase Crowder
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The memorial service will follow at 5:30pm on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, in chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
