William "Bill" Garfield Hill Jr. Profile Photo William “Bill” Garfield Hill, Jr. of Northport, AL passed away June 5th, with his family by his side.

Bill was from Moundsville, WV and was brought to Alabama via the coal mines in the 1980s. Bill retired after 40 years of coal mining in 2017. Along with working in the mines, Bill was an avid bowler for many years with the Sunday Night Strikers.

In the early 90s, Bill married the love of his life, Nancy Dalton. They had more than two decades together in love before Nancy passed in 2018.

Bill didn’t know a stranger. He would talk to anyone about anything, especially Pittsburgh sports (Go, Steelers!). He was an amazing husband, stepdad, grandpa, and friend.

Along with Nancy, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Hill. Bill leaves behind 2 stepdaughters, Natalie Blankenship and Amanda Faulkner (Drew), 2 beautiful granddaughters, Charlee Grace and Channing Shelby, his sister-in-law, Lori Crawford (Lamar), and niece, Ellie Crawford.

His family would like to wholeheartedly thank the UAB MICU for making the last few hours of Bill’s life comfortable.

The family will have a celebration of life event from 3p-6p, June 23rd at 1317 Main Ave, Northport, AL 35476.
