William “Bill” Edward Marsh, 86, resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at Poplar Estates Senior Living Community on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Bill was born in West Bend, Wisconsin on December 20, 1938, to the late Irma K. (Behrens) Marsh of Indiana and Ray Marsh of Kentucky.
In 1958, Bill completed his High School GED at the U.S. Armed Forces Institute in Madison, Wisconsin. Then he served in the United States Air Force as a certified Jet Aircraft Mechanic working on Jet Bombers until he was honorably discharged on March 17, 1961. During his years of service, he received a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal.
In 1969 Bill earned a diploma for training at the American Jet School in Jet-Gas Turbine Engines – Missiles and Rockets. He was a loyal employee of JI Case Corporation in Racine, Wisconsin until he retired in 1988.
Bill was an active member of his local church and The Knights of Columbus organization. He was a skilled bowler and a member of several leagues, often sharing the high scores he achieved. He enjoyed playing cards (Pinochle and Hand and Foot were some of his favorites), was an avid reader, and loyal Green Bay Packers football fan. For the last six years, Bill volunteered at Stonecrest Hospital in Smyrna, TN, driving a shuttle to greet and transport patients from the parking lot to the facility.
Bill is survived by sisters Marlene Shulz and Helen Bensene, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Surviving are his three sons, Niel (Bev) Marsh of Orlando, FL; Gregg (Jennifer) Marsh of Arrington, TN; Jason (Brina) Marsh of Mt Pleasant, WI. He was Grandpa to Aric Marsh, Chris Marsh, Peyton Marsh, Gavin Marsh, Tora Marsh, Ona Marsh and Xander Marsh; Great Grandpa to Helena Marsh. He was preceded in death by his mother, brothers Tom and Ron, sister Karen and his wife, Margaret “Maggie” Marsh.
According to his wishes, Bill has been cremated. Services will be held at St. Catherines of Siena Catholic Church, 3019 Cayce Ln, Columbia, TN, on Saturday, March 15th. Visitation is at 9:00am and funeral service at 10:00am at the church.
