A Celebration of Life Service for William “Bill” Clausel is set for 2:00 pm Thursday, December 29,2022 at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Westmoreland officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Holly Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 pm till service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Bill was drawn to fish in the Holy of Holies Big Bass fishing tournament in Heaven on December 25, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital- Desoto. Bill was born on May 20, 1943 to the late Charlie and Maudie Clausel in Alcorn County. He would go onto graduate from Alcorn Central High School in the Class of 1961. Growing up Bill would go on to become very successful owning his own flooring store called “The Floor Store” located in Horn Lake, Mississippi. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a member of the North Mississippi Bass Club, and traveled all across the country fishing. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he served on the sniper team at the DMZ zone between the two countries.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Clausel (Cheryl); his sister, Beverly Joan Clausel; and his sister in law Barbara Clausel.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Clausel; his daughter, Melissa Clark (Rodney); his brothers, Gary Clausel (Joan) and Bobby Clausel (Cathy); his sister, Betty Settlemires (Roger); his brother in law, John McGibboney; a niece, Rachel Sellers; and one grandson, Logan Clark.
Pallbearers will be John McGibboney, Rodney Clark, Logan Clark, Lyndall Helms, Jim Webster and David Jobe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital in Memphis, TN.
