William “Bill” Austin Harris, age 84 of Decherd, TN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Bill was the first of twelve children born to the late George Warren and Maggie Lou (Hensley) Harris on August 5, 1937, in Pelham, TN. Bill retired from Wilton Corporation in Winchester where he was employed as a machine operator. He was an avid rabbit, squirrel, and deer hunter where there was always an early morning hunt and a hot breakfast to follow. He enjoyed camping on Pete Mountain or at his family cabin in Greenhaw. He was a wonderful chef of wild game especially mulligan soup for everyone to enjoy. A dedicated Christian man who was very fluent in God’s word. Bill was a Sunday school teacher and deacon for many years at Pelham Valley Church of God of Prophecy. Bill is survived by his loving wife of sixty years and nine days, Mildred Gossett Harris; children, Lisa (Mark) Limbaugh and Carey Harris; grandsons, Casey (Jennifer) Jackson, Ryan (Haley) Limbaugh, Caleb (Kassidy) Limbaugh and Lake Harris; great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Alanna, and Caden Jackson, and Ryley and Ella Limbaugh; siblings, Dean (Rose) Harris, Wendell Harris, Judy LaFevers, AC (Bonnie Bridges) Harris, Clyde “Hunky” (Kathy) Harris, Pat (Linda) Harris, Mary (Ronald) Winton, Henrietta “Henri” (Jimmy) Sartain, Ed (Sherry) Harris, Ernest Harris, and Phyllis (Larry) Fraley; close friends, Larry Pickney and William Walls; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. John Cox and Bro. Glenn Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens with Casey Jackson, Ryan Limbaugh, Caleb Limbaugh, James Harris, Carl Harris, and Wesley Sartain all serving as pallbearers.
